Shiatsu

Originally a Japanese form of Chinese acupressure, Shiatsu, meaning finger pressure has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.). It is based on promoting well-being throughout the body by balancing the Qi (pronounced Chee) or life force in the body. Direct pressure is applied to specific points known as Tsubos (pressure points).

These points relate to the body in specific ways such as organ systems. The applied pressure helps reduce tension and bring balance to the whole body.

Shiatsu may be included in a massage treatment with the client lying on a massage table. Traditionally Shiatsu was performed with the client lying on a futon (thick mat) on the floor, wearing a Kimono (silk dressing gown).

Shiatsu is very effective in reducing deep seated tension, helping to balance the Qi in your body, and increasing your overall well being.
