Chinese Cupping
Suction Cupping has a very long history and the original healing principle was to draw the “bad or stuck Qi” or “bad spirits” out of the body. In ancient times in China the “cups” were bamboo, in Africa animal horn was used. Glass cups are now the most commonly used and have the advantage of being transparent.
Treatment involves removing the air from the cups with a small flame, then placing the cups directly onto specific points and/or tension areas of the body.
The vacuum created stretches that part of the body up into the cup. This stretching lengthens those muscle fibers that are tight and contracted and helps reduce deep seated tension. This action also helps to pull out the “bad or stuck Qi, bad spirits”, which could also be called cellular memory, from the body. Cupping is particularly effective in treating old injuries where chronically compressed tissue may be restricting movement in the body. Cupping is not painful when applied correctly although it may result in very temporary marks on the body.
Cupping is especially effective in drawing chronic tension (stuck Qi etc.) out of your body.
